Business Profile

Mission Statement To provide innovative solutions to enable the publishing industry to increase book sales and improve profit margins by promoting high quality printing, streamlined digital solutions, superior service levels, flexibility and a total commitment to clients' business goals.

Background Established in 2003, 4edges' co-founder David Button realized that book production requirements were changing; Publishers were demanding less in terms of quantity and more in terms of services. Keeping there titles in print became a challenge and therefore more reliance on technology was needed to ensure efficiencies whilst maintaining high quality expectations. So in 2003 4edge was established and adopted new and revolutionary technology to become pioneers within what was then an antiquated industry. Today, this technology is still in a state of flux as new and emerging technologies are in development. 4edge are still very much at the forefront of these developments. David Button, also now the Chairman of the BPIF (British Print Industry Federation) Book Production Section makes sure that 4edge maintains its 'edge'.

What we do 4edge specialises in producing high quality digital printing for all kinds of books and journals for a wide range of customers, from the very largest global publishers through to the sole trader/author. We are small enough to care, but big enough to cope. We provide an extremely flexible and affordable service, with fast turnaround times, to cater for every customer requirement.

Our technology and networks Using the world's fastest and most productive digital printing and binding systems, we aim to exceed - not just meet - customer expectations. As 4edge emits quality, the emerging inkjet technology has yet to prove itself within our market, however rest assured, once it does - 4edge will be early adopters'.

We also have associations with printers globally which also use the same state-of-the art technology to fulfil orders abroad. 4edge were the first UK digital printer to install a perfect binding system designed specifically for on-demand books - meaning we could set-up in thirty seconds, rather than thirty minutes.

Environmental awareness Our dedicated team of employees have vast experience in book production, also cares for the environment. It was one of the early adopters of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accreditation, 4edge only holds FSC-certified products and has also achieved the ISO 9001-2008 industry standard.
